PMM Mastery: Exclusive Insights from the First Two Sessions
The PMM Mastery Program (PMM) was opened last week. It is a newly exciting project by the G-CMO Academy.
This innovative training program is the first initiative of its kind in Israel. It is tailored to empower professionals from various disciplines with the essential knowledge and practical tools required to thrive as Product Marketing Managers (PMMs) across diverse industries. Through lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants learn how to develop effective product marketing plans, understand target audiences, differentiate products, and leverage various channels for maximum impact.
Moria Inbar manages the G-CMO Academy, with Michal Sever and Varda Caspi serving as the program's professional leaders.
G-CMO is an exclusive community within Israel's global marketing scene, accessible by invitation only, comprising top CMOs through the G-CMO forum and VPs in the G-CMO Next community. One of its main goals is supporting young marketers from our G-CMO Academy graduates community and our new RISE network, empowering them to become future leaders in the field. Led by co-founders Sophie Melnik and Shiri Grosbard, along with CEO Orit Cohen, G-CMO shapes Israel's global marketing ecosystem.
First Session Recap
The first session of the PMM program was held on Sunday, March 31, at Radware. It featured the distinguished speakers Michal Sever, VP of Product Marketing & Education at Nayax, and Ohad Pollak, the CMO of TytoCare. They shared invaluable insights into the essence of Product Marketing Management within modern companies.
Polak and Sever discussed the pivotal roles PMMs play at various company growth stages and highlighted the specific tasks PMMs concentrate on. They emphasized that PMMs work cross-functionally with many teams, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts with each team.
Participants described the energetic atmosphere during the session: Evgenii Raisfeld, one of the program participants, shared: "It was fascinating to learn about speakers' different visions on the same topic. The atmosphere in the room was vibrant and smooth. Everybody could exchange opinions, so it was like a cozy discussion with participants."
Second Session Recap
The second session of the PMM program, held at Kaltura, focused on "Understanding Your Company & GTM Strategies". The main stage was taken by Yitzy Tannenbaum, Senior PMM at Palo Alto Networks, who delivered an exceptional performance. He elucidated the disparities between mission, vision, and value proposition, emphasizing the present, future, and customer-centric aspects. The session featured engaging quizzes, compelling examples from well-known companies, and intriguing insights, such as LEGO Group's diverse product lines catering not only to kids and parents but also to hobby enthusiasts, offering a unique and enriching learning experience.
Key takeaways:
- Start crafting a vision and mission by asking “why” five times. This will help you get to the core reason and mission for being here.
- To develop a good value proposition, we must consider what value we provide to the customer and how we improve their lives.
- Focus on benefits and not features.
- Identify marketing personas - Who will benefit from the product? Make sure we are covering all segments.
Following the insightful session, participants engaged in practical exercises within their project groups, applying the knowledge gained during the session to real-world scenarios, enhancing their practical understanding of the subject matter.
"The first two sessions were prepared at an outstanding level, and I believe the bar will remain high!" Raisfeld summarized.
Many thanks to Radware and Kaltura for hosting the sessions.
